“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.” Romans 8:26-27 NLT
Do you ever have trouble finding the rights words in speaking to someone? It may be a delicate subject and you do not know how to start the conversation. You start with common pleasantries hoping to find an opening to express the matter that is on your heart. Once starting the conversation you still fumble and stumble not knowing what to say. For a lot of Christians, praying to God feels the same way. We cannot find the words to communicate to God our needs and concerns. Not to worry, the Lord knows all about it and has given us a helper when we pray.
First of all, we Christians need to understand that the Lord knows our need before we even ask Him. “….for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!” (Mt.6:8 nlt) Now, that does not mean we do not pray, God still wants us to ask Him. He wants us to have that fellowship with Him through prayer. Secondly God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us by guiding us through our prayers. When our hearts are burdened with specific issues sometimes it is hard to find the right words. Again, not to worry. The Holy Spirit will pray for us taking what is on our hearts and expressing to the Lord perfectly.
We can be assured that God hears our prayers. Having that confidence should inspire us to reach out to God each day in prayer. We know God knows our need and will hear our prayer through our own lips or our hearts through the help of the Holy Spirit. Our prayers will be in harmony with God’s will and He will answer according to His will.
